After having received the Sacraments of Confession, Communion and Anointing, on September 7, 2024, George James Mansour died peacefully, at age 93, at Villa Maria, Miami, Florida with his family near praying the rosary.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria (Farhat) and all of her nine siblings. He was also preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings, Albert, Elizabeth, Anthony, Esther, and Georgette, He is survived by his brother Jerry.

George is the father of Bishop Gregory, Brian (Denise), Joni (Tom) John (Carolyn), Susie (Frank) and George (Kelly), and a second father to Najib (Sarah), Wissam (Eman) and Monie (Rob). George’s spouse is Amal (Zaher) Jouri. He is the grandfather of 30 and great grandfather of 16. George was blessed with many nieces and nephews.

George was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Flint, as well as a founding member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Flint. He was a US Army veteran, having served in Stuttgart, Germany. He worked for his father at Citizens Market before venturing on his own, along with his lifelong business partner and brother, Jerry. In the 1960s, George and Jerry owned a fruit stand and deer processing center in Flint’s north end, and turned it into a grocery store and laundromat. They then went on to become one of Flint’s most respected real estate developers, building high profile projects.

George retired in 1983 to take care of his wife Gloria during her illness and to spend more time with his family. From this experience he became an active member of hospice. He remarried in 1987 to Amal Jouri, who had lost her first husband by a sudden death. George and Amal made their home between Miami and Flint before residing full time in Miami.

Together they were faithful members of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Miami, and on occasion Saint Jude Church in Miami. They were also active in the Miami Salam Club as well as assisting the sisters of Mother Theresa in their service to the poor.

George was devoted to his family members and found great interest in each of them, putting them first and himself second. He was well loved under the title of Jido (grandfather) as well as Ummo (uncle). George will be remembered as a sincere and good man, a man of his word, and one of devout faith and great love for family.

The excellent staff at Villa Maria could not have been better to him these past several months. The family is so very grateful to each one of them, often the silent heroes in service to others.
